Check out the latest Q&A spotlight on outside back Danielle Hickman from Cape May, New Jersey. Danielle graduated last June from Lower Cape May Regional High School. Check it out and stay connected to Wolverine Soccer Academy Dot Com!

What made you choose Wesley?
I chose Wesley because coming from a small town such as Cape May, Wesley College seemed like a comfortable change. It’s far enough to get away from home, but close enough to go home if I needed.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I’m like a walking holiday!

Did you play any other sports in high school? If so tell us more about your experience with that sport?
I played lacrosse three out of the four years I was in high school. I also attempted indoor track my freshman year and basketball my junior year, but those didn’t really go as planned.

What are you thinking about or planning on majoring in?
Elementary Education

What favorite song is on the IPOD?
It’s too hard to narrow it down to a few. I love everything on there.

Who is your favorite soccer player in the world?
Cristiano Ronaldo

What club team did you play just before arriving at Wesley?
Woodstown Eclipse – New Jersey

What is your favorite motivational quote?
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

What is your favorite sports movie?
She’s the Man

What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
10 years from now I will hopefully be teaching, and beginning to settle down.

Who is your biggest hero? Why?
My parents are my hero’s. They are my inspiration and motivation to achieve and succeed in life.

What were you most excited about for your first college season?
I was excited to be playing college in soccer, because it’s a new experience. A few of the girls I grew up playing with are also attending Wesley so I was definitely looking forward to playing with them throughout college.

Lacey Smith is coming off another quality season at center midfield and has guided the Wolverine offense for the last three seasons. Lacey is a three-year starter who has shown tremendous leadership on and off the soccer field. Kim Fearnbach, who finished the 2010 season on top of the scoring table, will help lead the young Wolverine attack next season. “Kim adds tremendous strength to our program with her commitment and passion on the field”, said Coah Muntz. Both Lacey and Kim will be the only seniors on the 2011 Wolverine squad.

“Both Kim and Lacey are quality student-athletes that represent the strong traditions of our program. With a large incoming freshman class and high expectations, I look forward to watching them lead our team back to playoff form”, said Coach Muntz.

Dedication Plaque Reads:
Julia “Jules” DeFelice (Oct. 1, 1989 – July 16, 2010) was the heart and soul of the Wesley Women’s Soccer program. Her athleticism, passion and zest for life were evident on and off the soccer field.

An Exercise Science major from Tinton Falls, New Jersey, Julia moved onto the College’s Top 20 All-Time scoring list in just three seasons. Her nine goals, six assists and twenty-four career points ranks her 18th in the program’s history.

Though her earthly life was far too short, her spirit lives on through those who know and love her, and through the devotion, sportsmanship and camaraderie of the women’s soccer players at Wesley College

What made you choose Wesley?
I chose Wesley College because it just felt right when I visited the campus. I visited a lot of schools but Wesley was the only one that I got the feeling I belonged and that I could see myself here for four years.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I spent most if not all of my High School graduation in police car…About an hour before graduation I became very sick do to medicine I was taking…While standing in line with my classmates, getting ready to enter the stadium I went off to the side and began to get sick everywhere. So I guess you can say I missed my own graduation.

Did you play any other sports in high school? If so tell us more about your experience with that sport?
I was always lucky enough to have played softball for four years. Softball at my school is one of the top women’s sports programs. We have made the state tournament for the past 16 years and in the Iron Hills Conference we were lucky enough to have won the conference title for 7 years in a row. I loved playing softball for Morris Hills…it was a great family.

What are you thinking about or planning on majoring in?
I am majoring in Education K-8…I really want to teach either 1-3 graders. I want to be able to teach them in their early stages of life. I have a lot of energy and I think I would do well teaching young energetic children.

What favorite song is on the IPOD?
“Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and “Love the way you lie” by Eminem/Rihanna,

Who is your favorite soccer player in the world?
Mia Hamm

What club team did you play just before arriving at Wesley?
I was playing for the Parsippany Banshees.

What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
I see myself teaching second grade and coaching a women’s soccer team…maybe married living somewhere near the ocean with a kid or two.

Who is your biggest hero? Why?
My biggest hero is my dad. My dad is truly a great person, he will go out of his way for anyone…My dad’s heart is huge and he carries everyone on his shoulders. The way my dad is as a person is who I want to become…Every since I was little he was the person who would made me strive to be a better person…He would always tell me, never to give up, try your best, and stay true to your faith.

What are you most excited about for your first college season?
I’m most excited to be able to play at the collegiate level and compete on a team for the sport that I love. I’m very excited for the challenge and hope I can just make a good contribution to our teams success. LETS GO WOLF PACK.
