Freshman Spotlight – Q&A with Sam Lyon

What made you choose Wesley?
When I came for my overnight and day visit I got to meet all the girls…I had a really great time. I didn’t get that feeling with the other colleges I visited.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I used to participate in gymnastics.

Did you play any other sports in high school? If so tell us more about your experience with that sport?
I used to run track…I was very good at it my freshman year. I still hold a record with three of my teammates in the 4 by 800 meter race.

What are you thinking about or planning on majoring in?
I am majoring in psychology because I love how people interact with eachother and stuff.

What favorite song is on the IPOD?
Dynamite – Talo Cruz and 2012 – Jay Sean

Who is your favorite soccer player in the world?
Mia Hamm

What club team did you play just before arriving at Wesley?
Toms River Elite Hurricane

What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
Successful and settled in a career that I love.

Who is your biggest hero? Why?
My dad, because he’s been through a lot of hard times recently. But no matter what he is always there for me and my sisters and never gives up. He always has a positive attitude towards everything.

What are you most excited about for your first college season?
I’m most excited about just playing. I love the sport, I love the game…I’m going to have fun no matter what. What’s there not to be excited about?
